DESCRIPTION
OF DEFECT
The right front door on some 1995 and 1996 Discovery vehicles may fail to
latch fully, causing the door to 'bounce" back off of the door seals. Procedures
have been established to inspect all side doors on all affected vehicles and
to rectify latch problems determined by that inspection. An extended length
latch mounting fastener has been introduced to assure proper orientation of
the right front door latch relative to the mounting leg of the adjacent window
frame. The new fastener must be installed on vehicles within the following
VIN ranges: SA156138 - TA200000, SA500045 - TA534099, TA700000 - TA703236
In cases where latch loads have been excessive, replacement of the latch may
be required.

Dear Range Rover 4.0 SE Owner:
This notice is sent to you in accordance with the requirements of the National Traffic and Motor Vehicle Safety Act.
Rover Group, Ltd., manufacturer of Land Rover vehicles, has determined that a defect which relates to motor vehicle safety exists in certain 1995 Range Rover 4.0 SE vehicles. This recall campaign relates to potentially defective rear suspension trailing arms. The rear suspension trailing arms, which connect the rear axle to the chassis, may fail by cracking and fracture of the aluminum ends and separate from the chassis. If you hear any knocking noise emanating from the rear of the vehicle, pull over at once. If this noise is ignored and the vehicle continues to be driven, there is risk that the arm will separate resulting in vehicle instability and possible loss of control, which could cause a crash. Do not drive your Ran-ge Rover if you know, or suspect, that one of the trailin-q arms has failed or is about to fail.
If you should hear a "knocking" noise in the rear suspension, stop the vehicle immediately and call Land Rover Road Recovery at 1-800-444-3700 and one of our representatives will make the necessary arrangements to have your vehicle transported to the nearest Land Rover Dealer.
Even though, to date, we know of no rear suspension trailing arm failures in the United States or Canada, in order to ensure that your Range Rover 4.0 SE does not contain potentially defective arms, we will be replacing the suspect parts at no charge to you. This action is being taken voluntarily and the necessary work can be performed by any authorized Land Rover Dealer.
The parts necessary to complete this action are currently available at your Dealer and the time required to perform this work is approximately 1 1/2hours.
Please contact your Land Rover Dealer to arrange for this work to be performed as soon as possible. Dear Land Rover Defender Owner:
This notice is sent to you in accordance with the requirements of the National Traffic and Motor Vehicle Safety Act.
Rover Group, Ltd., manufacturer of Land Rover vehicles, has determined that a non-compliance with the Consumer Product Safety Commission Battery Warning Label regulation, 16 CFR part 1500 exists for your vehicle. The battery warning label was omitted from all wet cell batteries supplied in 1993 through 1995 Land Rover Defender vehicles. The Consumer Product Safety Commission regulation requires that all motor vehicle batteries contain a label alerting people to the dangerous nature of lead/acid wet cell batteries with respect to explosion, acid bum, and poisoning hazards.
With respect to battery handling and safety, please be aware that batteries contain sulfuric acid which, if directly contacted, can cause blindness, severe bums or other injury. Eye protection should be worn when working in close proximity to batteries. To prevent explosion, smoking, flames and sparks should be avoided in the presence of batteries. Batteries should always be kept out of reach of children. Batteries should not be tipped and vent caps should be kept tight.
For your convenience, we have enclosed the label to be affixed to your battery along with the relevant sections of the owner's handbook which refer to battery handling and safety. Please follow the attached instructions regarding installation. If you do not wish to install the label yourself, you may take the vehic4e and label to your Dealer who will be happy to install it for you free of charge. If you experience any difficulty in affixing the label, please contact one of our Owner Care Representatives at 1-800-637-6837.
While you may already be aware of the dangers present with lead/acid wet cell batteries, these labels provide valuable warnings for any subsequent vehicle owners and people/children who may come into contact with the battery after it's useful life has ended and it is removed from your vehicle. Because of this, we emphasize the need for you to have these labels installed on the battery in your vehicle.
If you are not able to have your vehicle repaired without charge and within a reasonable time, you may submit a complaint to the Administrator, National Highway Traffic Safet y Administration, Washington, D.C., 20 590, or call the toll-free Auto Safety Hotline at 1-800-4249393.
